Another overcast day dawned early, with the sky spluttering, and spitting at odd intervals. We had seven and a half millimetres of rain last night, that on top of the steady rain we have had of late, made everything wet, muddy, soggy and mighty slippery to boot. But at least it is not cold. Cool, but not cold.
I had a nice hot shower while Ken was out feeding the bulls and checking on the bovines as normal. Then I got myself ready for a day into Wauchope once again. I seem to have lived there this week. Anyway Kerry Anne and I went in to hear an author give a talk on her experiences in the Antarctica. She was very interesting and she had some beautiful photos that she showed us via a laptop. It is always very tempting to want to buy the author’s book or books on display, but I resisted and will get one of her books out the library at a later date rather.
From there Kerry Anne and I went to the beauticians where Kerry Anne was having her nails done. I went off to kick my heels while she was doing that, and amused myself by buying a few groceries, after which I went into a little café and had a bowl of soup for lunch. Kerry Anne was at last finished and she was delighted (as was I) with her beautiful nails! It is so nice to feel feminine and pampered sometimes, as it does not happen often enough, especially out here in the country!
We then trundled back home. I dropped Kerry Anne off at her home, but I continued splashing through the puddles on the road, through the mud and then the river before I got home here. Ken was still not home. He was across at the Hollis’, where Reg’ was helping him sort out the ute’s problems. It sounds as if they have won most of the battle.
It is still cool and damp, so it is once again time for me to light a fire, make the supper, watch a bit of TV (my programme is on to night) and then into bed with a good book.
Another day of my life has come to an end. I hope I spent it wisely – I know I had fun in it.
My saying for to day is ….
“All sunshine makes a desert.”
