Another soggy start to the day, but because of that it is warmer too. So, no complaints.

When Ken was ready to go down and feed the bulls, I was too. I was also armed with my camera to take some shots of the bulls. There I was bouncing along on the back of the quad bike with Ken aiming the lens at any bovine within range on a simply beautiful morning. The clouds had vaporized and the sky was a baby blue with the sun shining on everything. One of those mornings that makes one glad to be alive. Just a good feeling all round.

I enjoyed taking shots of the bulls except the once when Ken had to put foot and get out of the way as a couple of bulls were argy-bargy around. They mean no harm, but are rather large, lumbering and very heavy should they land in your lap suddenly! Yoh! But the ground is ever so wet and muddy and it is looking very messy where the bulls stomp around. “Gluggy” is a good word to describe it.

After dropping me back at the shed Ken went out to check on the cattle in the Back Camp – J10 still has not obliged us by producing a calf at yet. Apart from that all is well with the bovines out there.

Ken then went out to check on the weaners across at Andy and Virginia’s, and they were still happy little campers out there. Ken also saw and had a chat to Andy who was busy putting in cattle grids on his farm. They organised for Ken to go across there to morrow to help Andy with some fencing.

While Ken was out and about, I set to uploading the photos of our Bonsmara cattle onto our website. Well many tufts of my hair removed later…. I eventually won. Yoh! What an exercise in patience that was. So now you will be able to view some of our Bonsmara cattle, and I will try to keep adding new photos to the album for you to drool over!

After visiting Andy, Ken then came back home and tried to fix our tumble drier, but after many mutterings, he decided that it must go to a ‘fix-it’ place rather. I agreed. It is far less stressful on our relationship I figured! Ah, the wisdom one learns as one matures.

In the late afternoon Ken harrowed the Small River Camp and then came home and chopped firewood. I think he will be quite pleased when winter is finally over. There will be no necessity for chopping firewood.

In the evening, during and after supper, Ken watched some rugby match on TV, and I watched the DVD I got from the library the other day – a series – which I am so enjoying.  I use my laptop and so can watch it is our bedroom, as the main shed is a bit chilly in the evenings to be sitting out there.

The day ended once again in soggy mode as the rain drifted down gently, causing more puddles, mud and mess. I am sure the land enjoys it, and that is enough cause for me to celebrate.

My saying for to day is ….

“It's good to have money and all the things that money can buy, but it's good too, to make sure you haven't lost the things that money can't buy.”

(George Horace Lorimer)
