“Happy Birthday Sheelagh!” It is my youngest sister’s birthday to day. Ken and I hope that you have a wonderful day and are spoilt rotten. Go celebrate little sister!

I woke up long before the birds had even ruffled a feather to day!  Wow! You mean I could have got the first worm – and there I was just sipping coffee? I was up just after half past three this morning. Why? I have no idea. I just was. Looking on the bright side, when I get to start the day earlier than usual, I get a lot more done. Talk about being bright eyed and bushy tailed – Yep! That’s me!

I am noticing that the mornings are a lot cooler of late. The changing of the season is making itself felt I fear. Yoh! I do not like the cold. But I will just have to brace myself for it, because for sure as little green apples are little green apples, it will arrive!

As soon as Ken woke up this morning, he set out to find “his head” – a little notebook in which he has written everything of importance to him for the farm. He mislaid it yesterday sometime in the late afternoon, and went looking for it as soon as he realized that he had lost it, but as it was starting to get dark, he had to leave looking for it until this morning. There is another “Ken’s head” lying out in one of our paddocks, slowly rotting away – that is one he lost a year ago or so. But I am so happy to report that Ken found “his up to date head” – down in the bottom shed. Thank You Lord for that!

I have had a wonderful Sunday – no rushing here there or anywhere (can’t anyway!) – it has been just a lovely slow sort of day. The weather being heavily overcast with light drizzle makes one feel a little sluggish anyway. I have knitted a little, worked on my recipe files, sorted out more recipes to try and cleared my art desk so that I can do a bit of creating there sometime. I have grossly neglected my art for quite some time now, and need to get messy with some paint again. I go “off with the pixies” when I draw or paint. I escape into another world. It is lovely and almost as good as a holiday for me.

The cattle are still chomping grass around the shed – a nice munch-munch-munching sound. The bulls looked across the fence at the bovine beauties around the shed, and bellowed with frustration – rather loudly! Thank goodness I do not understand what they were saying.

Ken went out to do his normal late afternoon patrol around the farm, and the heavens once again dumped a whole load of water in the shape of rain on the poor man. He comes back looking like a sucked mango pip, but very clean around the edges.

For supper to night I tried a new dish – Gourmet Meatballs served on spaghetti, sprinkled with grated Parmesan cheese. The recipes I am trying at the moment are every day sort of meals, but I am looking for combinations of good flavours to make the difference. It was an okay dish, the flavours were nice, but the texture of the meatballs could have been nicer. If I tell you that it was a good recipe,  and you would like to try it too, please just ask me for it. I will send it to you with the greatest of pleasure. (At the end of my daily blog there is a section marked “Comment” – just ask me in there.)

When the day ended, it was one spent and really enjoyed. After all I swopped twenty four hours of my life for it, did I not?

My saying for to day is ….

“We never really grow up we only learn how to act in public.”
