About Us

"Jabulani" is owned and managed by the Morgan family. The aim of the operation is to produce beef animals that are ideally suited to the Australian environment. The Bonsmara breed  has proved itself in the trying conditions of Africa and is making in roads into the Australian beef market.

Ken and Gail Morgan live on the property and are regularly visited and assisted by their children and grandchildren. The love of the land and its animals runs deep in the veins of the Morgan family.

We do not all have the privilege of rural living. We would like to share this privelege with you, so please feel free to log onto our website and read (Our blog) about the daily happenings on our special property.

Why Bonsmara?

The Bonsmara has been scientifically bred and strictly selected for economical production in the extensive cattle grazing regions of South Africa.

The Bonsmara has become so popular that it has grown to be numerically the strongest beef breed in South Africa in less than 25 years.

Bonsmara has become a highly respected breed because of the
following attributes:

  • Excellent fertility
  • Short inter-calving conditions
  • Low birth weights therefore easier calving
  • Excellent re-conception rates
  • Well developed udders with adequate milk
  • Early maturity
  • Adaptable to most climates
  • Excellent temperaments
  • Excellent carcass and meat qualities
  • Good growth ability
  • Advantageous feed conversion ratio

Conclusion
In summary, we chose the Bonsmara because it has been strictly selected for growth, fertility and functional efficiency and not irrelevant aesthetics- the "show pony" syndrome . These key traits being economically important traits that are emphasized by the master breeders of the cattle industry.
